The FIRE movement (Financial Independence, Retire Early) is a community and philosophy centered on saving a large portion of income (often 50–70%) and investing it to achieve financial independence decades before traditional retirement age.

The movement gained traction in the US in the 2010s through blogs and forums. In India, FIRE has grown rapidly, with communities on Reddit (r/FIREIndia), Twitter, and dedicated blogs. Indian FIRE adapts strategies for NPS, PPF, EPF, and local tax rules.

FIRE is not one-size-fits-all: variants include Lean, Fat, Coast, and Barista FIRE, each with different lifestyle and corpus targets.
